BUFFALO, New York (WIVB) - Buffalo's old first ward association is receiving a large donation towards getting a new essential van.

The van would be used to transport local seniors to appointments, grocery shopping, and participate in community activities.

The First Niagara Foundation partnered with KeyBank to donate $20,000 towards the cost of a new van.

The association is now asking the public for help raising the $7,000 needed to make the purchase.

"We currently have a standard size minivan. So we can take a couple people at a time on appointments. And people end up waiting quite a while because we're limited on how many seats we have. With a bigger van we would be able to take more seniors on trips and provide more opportunity to them."
