Teach for America Buffalo gets $1 million donation from KeyBank, First Niagara

Teach for America in Buffalo will receive a $1 million donation from KeyBank N.A. and the First Niagara Foundation.


The announcement was made Tuesday morning at Frank A. Sedita Academy in Buffalo.


In a release, KeyBank (NYSE: KEY) regional sales executive Gary Quenneville said:


“This grant will help Teach For America Buffalo continue the good work and positive academic momentum that is underway in the city school district. We are pleased to support this initiative that will have a transformative effect on city schools.”


Teach for America has partnered with Buffalo Public Schools since 2014. The national program trains recent college graduates and professionals to work for at least two years in poor schools around the country.


In Buffalo, Teach for America has brought a network of more than 120 people who have collectively reached more than 10,000 students, according to the release. The group also has more than 85 alumni, including five that work in public and charter schools.
